My name is Brent and when I came to America in the 1980's, I've always heard about American trains and their size and power, so one day I decided to go trackside and watch a Union Pacific freight train roll by. The sounds, the horns, the vibrations, and the friendly crew made it all too an amazing experience that I will never forget ! Since then, I have always had a passion for railroading and began what would be my career in the railroad industry. I mainly focus on railfanning at different stations throughout the state of California to provide a holistic perspective, but will also try to attend railroad related events. However, due to the nature of my job, some uploads can have a substantial time gap because of my work. I currently use the Sony Handycam FDR-AX33 for all of my videos. At long last, a highly awaited and requested video, I finally returned to the rails to do some long overdue railfanning !!! In continuation of my railfanning series of stations throughout California, I had Chatsworth on my railfanning to-do list for quite a while and decided to take a last minute initiative. I hope when service improves for the Surfliner, they'll be able to add more trains to the timetable north of LA. They could go with a few more trains to and from Goleta and this station, especially to here even if the addition of 759 was back along with when they get new coaches. Service north of Goleta towards San Luis Obispo is still hard to justify increasing the frequency but it would be nice for sure to see more trains !
What’s your next video?
It’ll likely be the last few remaining Amtrak stations I haven’t filmed at. Those being Van Nuys, Burbank - Downtown, Glendale, and Los Angeles Union Station. Some stations that are also on the list would be the Vista Canyon Metrolink station and revisiting the rebuilt Carlsbad Poinsettia station. And also the Redlands Arrow train service. In terms of which would be next in line, I’m not sure. I have not arranged a schedule for these locations yet; but they’re for sure on my to-do list !

@@BrentNguyen46 You’re welcome;) I’ve been very busy lately that I didn’t have some time to catch trains. I’m taking college classes at my local university and I’m a full-time volunteer at the CSRM’s Sacramento Southern Railroad. I did manage to chase UP #4014 on its Westward Bound Tour across NorCal and I have coverage from three days of chasing. I might upload it on the channel sometime in the Fall or early next year depending on my schedule. Nice to see coverage from you again, take care my friend!

Unfortunately yeah. I was fortunate to railfan Oceanside back in 2018 before the QZ became effective. Still nice places to railfan but definitely different without the horns echoing.

Thanks ! Not yet. I’ve seen other railfans catch it though. I believe the comet cars are currently only operating between LA and San Diego. Have not heard or seen it running in revenue service on the northern portion of the Surfliner route yet.

I haven’t had a chance to see them on the Surfliner yet, but I did catch those NPCU’s quite a lot when I was railfanning in NorCal a few years back. Their horns are still sounding great !

Awesome video, Brent! I'm pleased that you finally got back to the mainline, and to even see your first Phase VII observation along with 503 returning. I also happened to see 861 at Glendale with 669 on Metrolink Antelope Valley Line trains 260 and 263 as my father and I were continuing home from our journey to San Diego last month after a rugby match at Snapdragon Stadium.

Evening. Amtrak
The Antelope Valley Line is a lot different now, Brent. If you plan to go along the line again, they've increased the amount of trains for their timetable including on weekends, as the 280's trains now run on weekends too but run normally as locals like the other trains that start from and terminate at Via Princessa and this station. Those being 280, 281, 282, 285, 287 and 288. Be sure to also check out the new Vista Canyon station if you get the chance to go on this line.

@@BrentNguyen46 Oh, and if you also want to visit the Coaster again, they brought 690 and 691 back to the timetable with those running as a Saturday only train inbetween 678/680 and 681/683. Trains 688 and 689 also now run on Saturdays only as well.

Unfortunately that might not be feasible since the CabCar runs northbound only. To film going south I could either film out the back of the train (CabCar); or I’d have to get access to the locomotive cab (highly unlikely).
